Policies on Roma's Social Inclusion in Europe: Towards Succeeding in Social Intervention (ROMAin)
The European Roma Information Office (ERIO) is participating in the project Policies on Roma's Social Inclusion in Europe: Towards Succeeding in Social Intervention (ROMAin). This project is coordinated by the Direcció General d'Actuacions Communitàries i Civiques, Department de Benestar i Familia, Generalitat de Catalunya (Department of Welfare and Family of the Government of Catalonia). The aim of the project is to contribute to the social inclusion of the Roma through the review of best practices concerning inclusion policies focusing on Romani communities. It also aims at promoting transnational cooperation in the design and implementation of policies and projects concerning social inclusion of Roma. It is hoped that the project will contribute to a better drafting and implementation of the National Action Plans of Social Inclusion concerning the inclusion of Roma throughout Europe.
Within the project's framework, best practices concerning Roma inclusion policies and initiatives will be reviewed. Projects and policies that have been implemented by national, regional and local institutions, governmental bodies and NGOs will be identified and analysed. Such operations will be evaluated according to criteria developed at the beginning of the project. The selection, analysis and dissemination of best practices on social inclusion of Roma communities will contribute to an improved design and implementation plan of projects and policies geared towards Roma. The information provided will also contribute to a more intensive dialogue between organisations that deal with the social inclusion of Roma in Europe.
Expected outcomes of the project include: development of a website providing information on best practices; establishment of a network for organisations dealing with the social inclusion of Roma; and introduction of manual information provision on best practices.
